Handcrafted Journal - Guardian tea dyed, madder root eco print
This one-of-a-kind book is filled with hand torn to size, tea eco-dyed paper with natural botanical impressions made by a special ecoprinting process.
Unique designs inside the book are created using two different methods of ecoprinting. One method employs the natural dye impressions of madder, which leaves a soft reddish footprint of the leaves with out turning the paper red as well. This method takes planning and an involved process to protect the paper and only have the imprint of the leaves. It's a lovely result to see the whispers of red once complete. The second process uses the natural impressions of botanicals by utilizing the tannin reaction with the tea dyed papers. It's a mix of chemistry and magic so see the pages come alive with soft markings.
The cover is created with the same process as the inside papers, unsealed so the new owner can add their own embellishments to the leaf impressions. Coptic binding is used to bring the pages together and two built-in bookmarks are threaded and adorned for a finishing touch.
Book size: Guardian (approx. 8"x6") Tea Dye Process and/or Botanical eco-dyed, and/or modified ecoprint on thick 160 pound drawing paper.
